Expedia.com Complaint - Wrong Information Given By Expedia Rep
My son booked a trip through Expedia to Jakarta through Hong Kong. The carrier was Cathay Pacific. At the time of booking he called Customer Service and asked if he could get off at Hong Kong and he was told by an Expedia Rep that exiting the plane in Hong Kong would not be an issue. He then called back a second time to make sure this was correct and was told that he could not exit the plane in Hong Kong but for $150 they would change the ticket to accommodate this--but in order to do so they would need Expedia to release the ticket to them (Cathay) because it was a "special" fare and they had no control over it. Expedia refused to do this saying that it had to be released by Cathay Pacific. Neither carrier would release the ticket for it to be changed and my son put it in dispute with American Express. Neither company would budge on the ticket being released stating it was the responsibility of the other company. He did not go on the trip due to the fact he could not get off in Hong Kong. If he had been given the correct information at Expedia then this would have been a non issue and he would not have booked the flight and lost $1300.
