Wiesner Auto Dealer Complaint - shattered moonroof/unsafe safety glass

Review by mojomistress on 2005-01-02
CONROE, TEXAS -- Christmas Eve I was driving my daughter's 6 month old Tiburon when I heard a loud pop, then the moonroof shattered. Temperature outside was near or below freezing, heater in vehicle was on. The Wiesner dealership was within minutes away so I drove straight there. There was no evidence of anything impacting the moonroof - this was verified by a salesman inside the dealership. Nobody was available in service so I was told to return on Monday (three days later). Fearful that driving the vehicle home would incur even more damage, I asked the salesman to take a photo of the damage-did not have a camera. Glass blew out on my way home and now Wiesner claims damage was caused by a rock refusing to warranty the glass. I claim defective glass and installation -dealership is notorious for poor customer service.

Unlikely that a rock caused the damage, likely the service department cannot understand expansion and contraction!!! I have seen windows explode for no other reason than the windows not having enough "play" to allow for expansion. You are gonna have to get your Hyundai regional service manager involved in this to get resolution though. Try contacting the service manager at the dealership to give you a way to contact this person, if that does not work contact Hyundai directly, you should be able to find the number in your owners manual. Good Luck

mojomistress, I don't know if it will get anything accomplished, but I've contacted a friend at the dealership regarding your complaint. I agree with dealer that this glass was defective.
