Dish Network Complaint - New Dish Network customer, unfortunately
MICHIGAN -- I was with Charter in Michigan for the last ten years, lately their prices are just more than I can afford. So I talked to some people and was told to try out Dish Network. My buddy even gave me a coupon for $50 off my first bill. So now I've been with them for almost a month, and I absolutely hate their DVR and their stupid local versions of NBC, ABC, FOX and CBS. But that's all stuff I suppose I would get used to eventually. Now the part that I can't get used to is that I signed up with these guys to save money, but after 3 months I'm going to be paying exactly the same amount as I was with charter, and after 12 months I'll be paying a few dollars more. I should have looked into what channels I was going to have with the basic 120, but stupidly on my part I assumed F/X and AMC were standard channels, and if I want them, I've got to pay almost 20 dollars more. Ok sorry for kinda rambling here, but I promise I'm at the really bad part now. So yesterday I check my bank account and I'm at negative $37. I look into it and see Dish Network charged me $76.82. I'm broke, as I mentioned, and only had about 43 bucks in the bank. So I call Dish to figure out what's going on, and they tell me I'm signed up for Auto-pay. I tell them I signed up for paperless billing because I was told I get 5 free pay-perview movies, but I thought that meant I go online to pay and don't get a bill in the mail. Wrong. They take the money themselves. I am a completely irresponsible person, so I would never let someone take money out of an account that more than likely won't have much in it anyway. I can take autopay off, they tell me. But I will lose my free HBO and Showtime. Apparently, which I was never told, free HBO and Showtime only happens if I have autopay. So now I'm screwed and have to leave it on. And now, the final straw. This $50 off my first bill that I'm supposed to get, the first guy I talked to told me the code I gave him was linked to another account. The lady I talked to after him said it was linked to mine, but she didn't know why it wasn't taken off my bill. She says even though I'm now probably paying my bank overdraft fees because they screwed up, the best thing she can do for me is take the 50 off my next bill. So now I owe my bank money and for the first time in my life I can say it's someone elses fault and actually mean it, and now I'm stuck in a contract with what I think is a horrible company and it doesn't look like there is anything I can do about it. Well....that's enough for now. Sorry for rambling, but I'm mad and needed to get it out there.
