Norton antivirus Complaint - UNABLE TO GET NORTON ANTI VIRUS TO STOP HARRASSING E-MAILS, POP-UPS

Review by prettygirl on 2010-06-23
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA -- A FEW MONTHS AGO I ACCEPTED THE "FREE" 30 DAY TRIAL PERIOD FOR NORTON ANTIVIRUS. WHEN MY 30 DAYS WERE UP I CHOSE NOT TO PURCHASE FROM THEM. I AM GETTING POP-UPS, STATING "YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED, O DAYS LEFT" EVERY FEW MINUTES WHILE I AM ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THE COMPANY TO LET THEM KNOW I DO NOT WISH TO PURCHASE THEIR ITEM AND DO NOT WANT ANY POP-UPS. ACTUALLY FINDING A WAY TO CONTACT THEM IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. EVERY TIME I THINK I HAVE FOUND A CONTACT AREA, IT IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM. I HAVE SENT NUMEROUS E-MAILS ON EVERY POSSIBLE LINK I CAN FIND TO CONTACT THEM, BUT HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THEM AND STILL CONTINUE TO BE HARRASSED.
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP I CAN GET.
KATHY

Did you delete their program from your computer? You might want to give that a try.

Do as BEJ said; go into your add/delete programs function and simply remove the Norton program. Very easy and quick, and the pop-ups will stop.

THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE. I KNOW HOW TO TURN ON, SHUT OFF AND TYPE ON MY COMPUTER, THAT IS ABOUT IT, SO THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL. OF COURSE I HAVE TWO CHILDREN IN THEIR TWENTIES WHO KNOW THEIR COMPUTERS, BUT GETTING THEM TO HELP IS, WELL YOU KNOW.
THANKS
KATHY

If you want to uninstall Norton and have Windows XP, click on the round Windows icon in the bottom left corner, then click on the tab that says 'control panel'. Then in the window that pops up, go to Programs and click on uninstall a program and scroll down to Norton and click. Then click on the uninstall tab. AVG has a good anti-virus program that is free. You can find it at download.com.

Prettygirl, when installing the free version of AVG, be careful. Just about every screen you encounter basically tries to trick you into downloading the paid version. Just make sure you read everything and you should be fine.
