Dyson Vacuum Cleaners Complaint - Dyson Vacuum Cleaner "lemon"

Review by bren70 on 2010-06-23
CARLYLE, ILLINOIS -- Our church purchased a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner from Target. Church is a VERY small church -- is not large enough to warrant purchasing an industrial vacuum. After 3 months (once-a-week vacuuming) it stopped suctioning. All the recommendations in CARE were followed. Each time, those procedures were done, it worked for approximately 20 minutes and stopped suctioning again. We took it back to Target; however, Target's policy is "after 2 months no return to them." So I contacted Dyson. It was serviced at the cost of $60 and after 20 minutes of use it stopped again. Contact with Dyson's home office was made. The service person was rude, uncaring, and told me someone would call me back. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Unfortunately, I purchased this based on what one friend told me. Hers worked great. With all the problem and going to different repair services, we could find ONLY one service that would even attempt to service the product. It is too bad that I didn't do more research before purchasing this product.

My small company also purchased a Dyson (ball), for the same reasons. It worked less than 2 months, and Dyson refused to warranty it because it was being used in a commercial establishment, even though the carpet here is less square footage than most homes. Never again will I purchase a Dyson product; they are overpriced and poor quality (my opinion).

Maybe the vacuum was a member of the Church of England? Okay, I agree, it was a bad joke but I couldn't help it.

Honestly, Dyson vacuums are really nice. They are worth the price and have a great reputation overall. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear. I know it is frustrating when something doesn't last as long as expected. To an individual consumer, ALL DYSON'S COME WITH A 5 YEAR WARRANTY -- WOW!

I'm just sorry you had such a poor experience.
