2010 Vacation – Crosby, Texas to Sherbrook, Nova Scotia and back
6,400 miles – June 7th to June 22nd – Jack Holt - I. D. GP-JLH100710

Comfort Inn – Branson, MO
203 S. Wildwood Dr. 65616
06/07/10 – 06/09/10

The damn Air-Conditioner (Window Unit)
kept shutting down automatically every 10 minutes or so
the management would not do anything about it. The
window unit is the only source of ventilation in the room.
This is in direct violation of the “Uniform Mechanical Code”
which is adopted by most North American States. Without
ventilation in the room the air is stale and stifling. The
rest room exhaust was not working. The hallway corridors
have no Air-Conditioning or ventilation. This is also a code
violation. stayed 2 nights. - $260.10

No Refrigerator w/Freezer compartment in room.
No Microwave in room.
They had a safe bolted to the wall which I did not
ask for and did not use. They charged me $1 because
it was there. How ridiculous and absurd greediness is.

Sleep Inn & Suites – Harrisburg, PA

Had a refrigerator in room but it did not have a freezer
compartment. We were transporting Insulin and we
had to keep it cold in a pre-frozen cold pack.
I paid another rip-off fee called a “Hotel Services Fee”
for $.99. I did not use any “Services”.

This 3 floor Hotel does not have an Elevator.
Had to lug all our luggage to the 2nd Floor.

Comfort Suite – Tuscaloosa, AL
3916 McFarland Blvd. – 35405
06/21/10 – Stayed 1 night $125.39

This was the worst. We arrived, the outside temp was
100 degrees. The enclosed pool area did not have
sufficient exhaust fans. The chlorine gas was to high
a concentration in ppm’s to be safe breathing the air.
All of the interior hallways and corridors were hot with
no ventilation or air-conditioning of any kind. When we
arrived at the room and tried to cool it off, the A/C window
unit shut down automatically every 10 minutes or so.
I could not get the window unit to stay on and run.
The front desk said they were sending someone to
“take a look”, they never came. I request to be moved
to another room because there was no ventilation in mine.
They made no effort to remedy the situation. We did
not get any sleep that night in a hot room. I told the
front desk I wanted a refund, they refused. I left.

My overall impression of “ChoiceHotels.com” is negative.
These are a conglomerate of greedily managed hotels
where you get charged with the most ridiculous fabricated
fees and standards like refrigerators and microwaves
are not always supplied. “Parking” fees, “Safe” fees
“Hotel Services” fees, “Destination Marketing” fees,
along with room Air-Conditioners that are wired to shut
off the A/C every 10 minutes to save on the light bill are
all examples of immoral and unethical business practices.
Hallways and Corridors that are unventilated and or
un-air-conditioned and pool areas that have inadequate
exhaust ventilation and rest rooms that do not have
exhaust ventilation of at least 160 cfm are in violation
of the Uniform Building and Mechanical codes for the
United States irregardless of the Hotel’s location.

Well, it looks as if you are in the "Choice Rewards" program, because all your stays were in the Choice hotels. Stay 2 nights get enough points for a free night. You have a lot of free nights to use up.
I personally am in the rewards program and have yet to have any Choice hotel be as bad as you say. Maybe I am just lucky. The $1.00 for the safe charge is easily corrected by just saying you didn't use the safe. I have done this numerous times. Anytime I have come across any extra fee when checking out, I always ask to have it removed. Only one time I was denied. That hotel is off my list.

I am sure the parking fees were listed when you booked the room, weren't they? Those fees probably wouldn't be removed, however, because parking is probably very limited.

I have stayed at Choice hotels for the last 10 years and have never had the problems you seemed to have had in just 2 weeks.
