Commonwealth Edison Company Complaint - Commonwealth Edison needs competition - Illinois Electrical Utility company.

Illinois Electrical Utility company. - Complaint

Well, although our power does not go out often, the problem would be that when it does go out it goes out for too long.

I am sorry, but electricians make a ton of money and should be able to do their job quickly and promptly keeping of course personal safety in mind.

But quite honestly, the length of time it takes for them to restore power just makes me feel as if this company is just milking money because they have no competitors...and that needs to stop.

Sorry Com. Ed., I am not a piece of cattle nor will I be treated like one, if you want to run a monopoly, you should make sure you have the power to back it.....and I mean by being a competent company, not by being a den of thieves, because right now, that is about as much as I think about you.

Any kind of major corporation needs an equal competitor, that is good business, and keeps everyone on their toes instead of letting them turn into mindless robotic drones who think they can get their money for free.....that's called robbery....any way you slice it.

OP, I'm assuming you live in the Chicago area. Maybe you didn't realize it, but those storms that have gone through over the past week knocked out power to THOUSANDS of customers. Com Ed only has so many crew members who can repair power lines and they can't work 24/7. I understand that it's frustrating when the power goes out and stays out for a couple of days, but take into consideration that more than one area was affected with power outages and while they are working as hard as they can to restore service as ASAP, there are some areas that are probably higher up on the priority list due to the customer base (critically ill people, etc.) Back in 1990, the area I grew up in was hit with a massive ice storm that knocked the power out to our area for at least 3-5 days, so I know a thing or two about extended outages. If you're concerned about being without power for a long period of time, it might be a good idea to invest in a generator.

How long was your power out and what was the situation? The reason I'm asking is the last major outage in my area was for 5 days in certain parts of the city and I was one of them. It was due to a storm and we had a time. The city would take one area get them restored and start on another. They even called in crews from out of state to assist. Hospitals and the like had power generators so at least they were operational. I guess one would call the city a monopoly here because they purchase the power and in turn bill the residents for their usage.

Nice response Clutzy to a frustrating situation and a good reminder. In my area even if service could be bought from another company it wouldn't have mattered. Power lines were down everywhere.
