Carl's Furniture Complaint - Broken Products - Broken Chair Delivered
PARAGOULD, ARKANSAS -- Back in 2008 my wife and I wanted to buy some new furniture. We went to Carl's furniture in paragould Ark. and found a nice recliner that I liked. After purchasing this recliner, they delivered it about 2 days later. When the delivery guy's brought the chair in my house I noticed it was making a weird noise. I then lifted up the velcrowed piece on the back of the chair and found that the chair was broken. I then asked the delivery guy's if they would take the chair back and bring me a new one like I paid for. These guy's said that this was a minor problem and they come to kennett all the time and the next time they come to kennett and have the right tools with them they would stop by and fix it no problem. He then told me that he would make a note on the paperwork that the chair was damaged on delivery. I then asked again if they would take the chair back and just bring me a new one. Both of these delivery guy's insisted that this was a minor problem and they would take care of it within a day or two.
After 2 weeks went buy my wife called Carl's furniture and asked them about fixing my new recliner I had purchased from them and they told her they didn't know anything about it. My wife then told them to look at the invoice from our purchase and then they would understand the chair was broken when it was delivered. Carl's furniture then just hung up on her.
The next weekend I was off from work I loaded up the chair in my truck and took it back to the store. I asked to talk to the owner or manager of the store. they told me to go around back and someone would be around there in a few minuets. After waiting for about an hour the owner came out the back door and said,...Quote: That chair was not broke when we delivered it, you just went and found a different one you like better and want to bring this one back". I said no this chair that I paid good money for was broken when it was delivered the information should be on our paperwork. He then told me to get off of his property or he was going to call the police.
The police came and I told them my situation and they said this was a civil matter that I would have to file a civil suit against the store.
All I wanted was what I paid for but in the end all I got was a broken chair and screamed at by this store owner and the police called on me.
It has been over two years now and I still have a broken chair to sit in. I will never purchase anything from this store again and I tell my story to anyone who will listen. I personally think this is a bad way to do business and a bad way to treat your customers.
