Ikea Complaint - Ikea USED to have great customer service - NOT ANYMORE
WASHINGTON -- Several days ago I decided to update my teenagers bedroom. I made the trek to Ikea to purchase a bedroom set and sofa for her room.
By the time I left Ikea, I was in tears.
I could not get anyone to assist me in lifting for heavy packages containing Malm Dressers. When an Ikea employee did duck in to my aisle as I was attempting to slide a box in to my flat bed cart that kept rolling away from me, he looked at me, looked at an item sticker and left the aisle. It was clear that I was struggling. Moments later, I heard this same gentleman ask two young women if they could use some help. IKEA STAFF USED TO BE SO HELPFUL. WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOME, I WAS A DEDICATED AND REGULAR CUSTOMER. THAT WAS NO MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS AGO.
While I was struggling with this, my son was in another area purchasing a small sofa which is priced at less than $200 and displayed in the parking area. The three people he asked for help said that they don't have a single sofa that is priced under $200 and that he was mistaken. They did say that there was a Futon around that price. The three employees were so busy talking amongst one another, that they didn't even attempt to assist him. Once my son did find the sofa (klippan), he struggled to get the sofa on the flat card by himself. He met me at the cashier and said THE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO HELP AT ALL.
While in the self-checkout we asked for some assistance and it took about 15 minutes to get someone to come over to our checkout stand.
By the end of it all, we were tired, frustrated, and regretful that we even purchased the furniture from there. When we got home, the corner of one of the mirrors was cracked and we were missing four pieces of hardware out of the million trillion pieces of hardware it took to put the to six-drawer malm dressers together.
We are actually worried about the service we'll get when we go to return the mirror and ask for spare hardware for the malm dressers. Ugh!
