Weber Complaint - Weber One Touch Charcoal Grill

Review by jwbenning1 on 2010-06-25
PALATINE, ILLINOIS -- I have a Weber grill which I have been using for over 20 years. The welds on the handle have broken, so I bought a new Weber 22.5" One Touch Silver charcoal grill which looks identical to my old grill. The new grill has a plastic handle which gets dangerously hot unlike my old grill which has wooden handles. I called Weber to complain and their response was to wear an oven mitt. I tried to order a set of wooden handles and was told that they are no longer available. I believe that this handle gets so hot as to represent a danger to anyone who touches it. I think that the name "one touch" must mean that you touch it once and you'll never touch it again. I would strongly recommend against buying this model. I plan on returning it to the store where it was purchased.

This may very well be a safety issue, and I would return it, too. You may also want to contact the Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Reports.

Very telling and helpful review.
Why would Weber change from wood to some other type of material that hold the heat anyway? Good grills, poor decision on their part.
