ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NEW JERSEY -- Emergency radio - These things are GREAT!

Five months ago, I bought 3 of these; one for me, one for my brother in Texas and 1 for a friend in Mississippi.
My friend in MS. has needed it on three occasions since and has referred it to 3 other friends.

It really came in handy during the tornadoes and flooding there.
She lives in a rural area where power outages are common.

The sound and reception [here anyway] is very good, even without extending the antenna beyond the "anchored" position.
The unit contains an emergency integral small "flashlight" and alarm.

Turning the small crank handle [dynamo] for 30 seconds recharges the battery for 30 minutes of use.

HIGHLY recommended!

I have the First Alert Sema Model CR-100 AM/FM/Short wave 1 & 2. When Hurricane Elvis Hit, it was a great help. No one should be without one.

Thanks for the heads up, Huck. I will discuss getting one with my wife, I am sure it is better than the AM/FM/Weather Band radio we have in our Bug Out Bag.

Good information. Right now I still have a little battery operated transistor radio in the bachelors chest in the foyer. In the past I've been able to keep informed of LOCAL weather when the power went out which was what I needed at the time. I'll check out what you've recommended since I like the idea of recharging the battery.
