Budget Van Lines Complaint - Reservations are for....?
SOUTH BURLINGTON, VERMONT -- Last week I used Budget's online truck rental service to reserve a truck for tomorrow. I received a reference number, an estimate of the charges an a note to call the center at least 24 hours in advance to confirm my rental.
My rental was scheduled for Thursday afternoon, so I contacted Budget Tuesday afternoon. The gentleman who answered said that the woman who confirmed reservations was with a customer, so he took my phone number and promised she would call me back soon. I waited by my phone all evening and never received a call.
On Wednesday morning, after numerous attempts, I was finally able to reach someone. I explained that I was calling to confirm my reservation, and she put me on hold to find it. When she returned she said "oh, I see we have you down for a 10 foot truck tomorrow at 1pm. Well, I was just about to call all my reservations for today and tomorrow- I have no trucks." I thought that I misheard her - I made a reservation didn't I? I told her that I must have misheard her, and she repeated, "we have no trucks on the lot." I asked if this meant that my reservation was canceled and she said yes, then told me to have a good day and hung up.
I cannot believe that, after making a reservation and calling to confirm within the allotted time, they would simply cancel my reservation and offer me no alternative. I will never work with Budget again. If reservations are important to you, like they would be if you required a moving truck, I would NOT recommend Budget.
