Montgomery Mazda Complaint - Used car - Mazda MPV LX Van

Review by Nonna B on 2010-07-02
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Since May 11, 2009, when the 2001 Mazda MPV LX van
that I purchased from Montgomery Mazda in Charlotte, NC,
I’ve been unsuccessful in getting my problem resolved.
Montgomery Mazda had a rebuilt transmission and a rebuilt
converter installed in a van February 5, 2008. I purchased
the van April 26, 2008. After the purchase, I learned of the
installations. The owner of MM told me, “he did not have to
inform me of this information”.

One year and fifteen days later while driving back to NC, the
van broke down and is still in New York State.
The Mazda dealer in Amherst, New York has determined
the repairs estimate is approximately $4000-$6000. One repair
is a used motor for $4099 and catalytic converter for $1150.
I have not had the van repaired and I’m without a car/van
in a town that has no public transportation.

The Mazda MPV LX van was discontinued after the 2006 model
Year.

These things tend to happen with 9 year old vehicles. The seller had no obligation to provide you with the vehicle repair history. The buyer should research the vehicle and take it to a mechanic before buying.

Since the transmission and CC went, it's not a surprise that the engine did. You got over a year of use with a nine year old van. These thing happen when you buy used cars. It's not the sellers fault.
