Lowe's Compliment - My fan is defective I think
MIDWEST CITY, OKLAHOMA -- I bought a ceiling fan at Lowes. I went to install it which is probably my first mistake because I'm about as handy as a needle stuck in a toothbrush and twice as destructive. Anyway though I thought I'd give it a whirl since I'm just replacing one that seems to be broken.
First of all turns out the existing ceiling fan wasn't broken but rather it was the light switch. You live and learn. Anyway though I thought since I've already taken the old fan down and since I probably couldn't reassemble the disassembly anyway and since I have this brand new fan here why the heck not just install the new fan. Which I attempted.
I'm not going to bore you with details of this six hour fan installation ordeal other than to say at one point it became quite obvious that something had gone horrible wrong in that the fan blade holder thingies were scraping against the housing cover or whatever which resulted in a terrible annoying sound if the fan was turned on.
So I un-assemble my assembly attempt then put it back in the box. Took it back to Lowes with receipt of course because as a regular reader of my3cents I know you must clutch that receipt as if it were a life preserver on the Titanic. The lovely young lady asks me why I'm returning it to which I answer I think it might be defective. She says what do you mean? I tell her I tried to install it but it didn't work out so well. I'm not sure if it was me or the fan or both. She said no problem and issued a refund. Just that simple.
I have always had good luck with Lowes. Great employees and great customer service. So big kudos to LOWES! You guys rock.
