Prestige Auto Mart Complaint - Trying to trap me fraundulently into buying their vehicle.

Review by TonyT33 on 2010-07-02
WESTPORT, MA -- Went to Prestige to look at vhicles on 6/27/10. Looked at a vehicle we liked. Put down $100 hold and filled out paperwork for a credit history check. Vehicle had minor problems and would all be fixed on 6/30 by 3pm. On 6/30 @ 3pm we went by because we hadn't received any feedback from them at all and we were told the Altima wasn't fixed yet. We were not happy and left. On 7/01 my wife went to to get back our $100 hold and was told she would not get it back and that she owned the vehicle! We were shocked because we had no paperwork for anything. No bill of sale, or titles, no trade in done, and I never gave them the $3,000 down payment. Nothing at all was done!I received a threatening phone call at work stating that I owned the vehicle if I liked it or not! We found out about Carfax and looked them up and they have a bad repuation for doing shady business. We feel they are trying to fraudulently trap us into buying their vehicle and they can even keep the $100,we just want them to leave us alone. I hunted down the bank that Prestige Auto Mart does ONLY online business with because they did not have their phone number because they strictly do ONLY ONLINE banking with them and was told that I DO NOT have any such account with them! What is Prestige trying to pull?? Well they found themselves a force to be reckoned with because I am no sucker! So beware consumers for they do some shady business...
Company Response on 07/22/2010:
My name is Manny and i'm the owner o PRESTIGE,without going into details on this 3 particular complaints, becouse i don't know the particulars about them,i would like everyone to know that, we at PRESTIGE, strive to please every costumer. However ,as most of you know, pleasing everyone is virtually impossible, specially when we sell over 1500 cars per year and have over 35 employees, misunderstandings happen.WE have been in busniss for 7 yaers and sold 0ver 10000 cars and trucks throughout Southern New England.Eventhough 3 unhapy potencial costumer are more than i'd like, we must admit this is a very good ratio for a busniss of this size. Again,i'd like to personally thank to all my costumers and i look forword to talk to all of you, if a problem arrives, the dealership # is 508-6367870,and you can ask for me personally or ask for one of the managers on duty,Jeff the GM,Joe the GSM,Duane sales mgr or Danny service mgr.Oce again MANNY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU.

sounds like time to contact your local BBB and the state attorney general.
And I would contact a local news channel with some type of 'buyer beware' segment or something like that. Shaming people seems to be the only route with things like this.
