J.C. Penney Company, Inc. Complaint - False attempt to sell us "accident insurance"
Resolution Update on 01/14/2012:
Penny's cancelled the contract
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- J. C Penny, the retailer, sent us our bill with a ZERO balance which we expected because we pay our bills immediately However in the "total due" column, was listed a charge for $10.95 for "accident insurance" from
Stonebridge Insurance, Plano Texas.
This was a completely unsolicited offer and if we had not been more observant could easily have signed on for something we didn't need or want.
Evidently this is directed toward older customers who are unlikely to read the detail on their bills.
My wife called and read them the riot act and according to the Penny's rep, everything relating to this insurance scam has been removed from our record.
We will be watching like hawks if it occurs again.

It still appalls me that a well known company has to stoop this low and we will buy no more from this retailer!
