U-Haul Complaint - U-Haul unfair behavior
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I rented a Uhaul van from store at 1200 west Fullerton, Chicago,60614. I returned it after about 13 hours when the office was closed. The parking was extremely full, so I had no choice but to park it at the entrance of the parking at about 11:30 P.M. . A part of the rear of the van was on the sidewalk. Then, I dropped off the keys in the key box.
They charged me about $300 when it was estimated at the beginning about $60. $150, they said, was for the broken mirror. When I told them that there was no damage to the van when I parked it, they told me that it could be someone else, a drunk person, that broke the mirror. Also, I do not know how they calculated the rest of the amount.
I agree that there were additional miles but there was also a lot of exaggerations.
When I met the manager of the store, he did not pay attention to what I said at all. So, I complained to the head office. They gave me a reference number 29222 and told me they are going to call me after three business days, but they did not. I called them again after about 12 days and they told me the same story that the manager of the store told me.
I protested and told them that this was not right at all. They should not do that because it is cheating. They also told me they are going to call, but they did not neither.
I think this bad behavior of the management of UHaul is because this company has no real competition from another company. They do not care about customers, because they know these customers will return to them again.
