Spirit Airlines Complaint - Spirit lies about compensating you for THEIR mistakes
I am not a faithful customer of Spirit Airlines. I think their service in flight is bad and their airplane seats are terribly close and uncomfortable. However, because my job is very far away from my family, I travel a lot and I felt I could put up with these issues in order to save some money. Boy was I wrong! After completing my $9 fare club membership I was ready to take advantage of some good deals. It so happened twice in a month Spirit Airlines had to cancel the flights (one of these times was because the plane had a clogged toilet and they did not have the tools to fix it!). On both occasions, the Spirit Airlines customer service clerk at the airport apologized for the inconvenience, offered a full refund of the ticket and an additional $100.00 voucher (which in my case would help cover $45 in gasoline to get to the airport, $20 for 12 hours of airport parking, $15 in toll booths, and $12 in meals. So it is not like I am getting a deal here). It so happens that when I call later in the month to book a flight and take advantage of my now $200.00 credit, such credit was never entered into my account. In short, not only was I not able to see my wife and daughter, I also wasted a total of 22 hours at the airport and lost about $180 thanks to Spirit Airlines terrible service and lies.
Hopefully this post will help other people to make a decision about whether Spirit Airlines is worth it or not. In my opinion, it is not and I will never do business with such a lousy company again.
