Bank of America Complaint - Over Draft Fees-BOA setting up customers to fail!
CHARLOTTE,, NORTH CAROLINA -- I am a recent victim of the BOA overdraft fee dog.
On 7/6/10 I checked my account online and saw that I had over $120 in my account. I stepped out of the house bought less than $20 in groceries, coffee, gas and movies with my GF.
On 7/6/10 I checks my account online again and saw that a BOA "Bill Pay" $200 check had cleared that was delivered on 6/30/10 but cashed in on 7/6/10.
BOA decided to post this checked before all my debit purchases on 7/6/10 causing all debits and credits to be over drawn therefore creating multiple over draft fees....
I called the bank and spoke with custoemr service supervisor Peter Hernandez and basically wa told that it was my responsibility to know what checks were out. I agreed with him on that point but why the bank waited an entire day to show the posted check, and why not just bounce the check. Mr. Hernandez told me that there wasn't much he could do thats the way our system is designed and I would have to call tommorrow with a "maybe" to help. I then asked to speak with this supervisor "Jeff Villanueva" and was told that he could not be reached and I would phyically have to write a letter.
Now my thoughts on this are obviously baised and I should have kept track of a "bill pay" check which I normally do. I don't mind paying one over draft fee for the check, but why would BOA knowingly place the cleared check before all debit and credits on 7/6/10 but not showing it until 7/7/10. All that goes through my mind is "greed". I already emailed a couple news agencies informing people of this crap...what ever happened to the human element?
I have been a loyal customer since 2003 and I think its time to change banks...I hope this reaches someone in authority with BOA.
