Holiday Inn Complaint -
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA -- We stayed at the Hoilday Inn Select at the Bell Tower Mall in Fort Myers, Florida from September 20, 2001 to September 23, 2001. During our stay there, our room was broken into and my wife's diamond wedding ring and watch were stolen. The ring is appraised at $3450.00 and the watch is worth $150.00. While we do not know if Housekeeping is responsible, they were the last ones in the room and could have left the door ajar, allowing entry into the room. According to your security staff, that has happened before. We have been informed by Jim Larkin that the hotel is not liable, however FL Statutes state otherwise. He stated that the hotel has signs which indicate this and this is false information. We have been advised by an attorney that we could sue the hotel for making these illegal statements, as well as for the theft involved.
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
We expect to be reimbursed for this loss, as it is clear that it occurred as a result of the operators negligence. We expect the total amount of $3600 to be refunded within 15 days or we will be forced to file a suit against the hotel.
Thank you for your time.
