Earthlink Complaint - Almost Impossible to Cancel with Earthlink
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- I've had Earthlink for about 9 years. Last May 2009, I cancelled Earthlink to go with Charter, which I got a bundled package deal. First off, charter couldn't come out till Earthlink disconnected their connection which took over two weeks. Secondly, final bill came and was paid and I thought everything was fine until 6 months later after service had already been cancelled I got another bill. I contacted them and stated the facts, they said they show no cancellation, gave me the run around, etc. So once again I said okay, I'm cancelling service for the second time, paid the bill and thought it was put to rest until yesterday. I received yet again another bill, now this is 8 months after I cancelled for the 2nd time and paid final bill. I contacted Earthlink, their response do you have confirmation number when you cancelled? No you never gave one both times that I cancelled, they said well then you owe$7.90. I said first off how can that be I haven't received a bill in all these months then out of no where I get one, how do you explain that. I continued on stating if I did have service then why haven't I received a bill in the previous months leading up to this bill. Their response was we've been billing your credit card that's on file. I said impossible that credit card you had on file was stolen 2 months before I cancelled service back in May of last year so I know your lying. They stuck to their story, (bunch of idiots/liars they are). So bottom line, stay away from earthlink, they won't let you cancel with them. Beware.
