Advocate good shepherd hospital Complaint - ER is terrible - Hospital

I visited the ER of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL. This was late one evening. I had a broken wrist. The ER receptionist was terrible. Almost unbelievable. She let me know that she controlled access to the ER, the doctors, etc. She took my insurance card and then wouldn't give it back. It was a pure attempt at intimidation. I left the ER drove 45 minutes to another hospital.

A friend of mine visited the ER about two years ago and had the same experience. Except he couldn't leave. But the night receptionist was just as obnoxious.

Don't go to this hospital unless you are flat on your back.

I live in the area. Which one did you end up going to? I know that Advocate takes complaints seriously. Call or send an email to the head of the ER.

I often have to leave my DL and insurance card at the desk for a while when I go to a new doctor or hospital. Sometimes they photocopy them and give it back immediately, but there are lots of small phone numbers on the back that don't always show up in photocopies so I can understand why the actual card comes in handy. How long did she keep it?

I have found that many ER staff are not overwhelmingly friendly when you first meet them, but with all the death and injury they face every day - not to mention the anger of hurt or sick people and their loved ones - it can be a tough place to work.

I ran across several times a very rude and obnoxious employee at Good Shepherd in the Anticoangulation Clinic (ACC)..I had contacted everyone including the hospital's president...THEY DO NOT CARE...All they care about is how fast they can make money.
