Correctional Billing Services Complaint - Overcharging for receiving collect calls from inmates. - Evercom phone service

Evercom phone service - Complaint
Review by focusonlaw on 2010-07-09
ADDISON, TEXAS -- I keep very accurate records of the collect calls I receive from my brother who is awaiting trial at CCA Leavenworth. On two occasions, Evercom, or correctional billing services, charged for calls that were not made. I complained to their call center at 800-844-6591. They directed me to an on-line "Inquiry form for calls billed by Correctional billing Services (CBS)" On the form, you are directed to mail the complaint for overbilling to: Correctional Billing Services, Attn: Inquiry Department, PO Box 1109, Addison, TX 75001. I sent the complaint out on June 2nd. Today (July 9th) I received the letter back as undeliverable. I double-checked the address which was typed. It was correct.
The outrageous rates charged by this monopolistic company coupled with poor service and erroneous billing for calls not taken is borderline fraud. To deny accountability by means of a non-deliverable address is adding insult to injury. I have kept the returned letter as proof of my statment. What other company can operate like this??
