In 1999 I bought a three seater Ektorp couch. The cushions went all to hell so Ikea had a local upholtsterer provide new 'stuffing' and the couch came out hard as a rock. I didn't know that IKEA would guarantee this product for as long as I owned it. By this time they now had a 2 cushion couch w/ hide a bed so I happily paid an extra $100 to have a new bedroom. The newer sofa looked the same, felt the same and endures to this day. BUT...the white cover that originally came with the Ektorp furnishings was a beautiful embossed, crisp fit cotton and it lasted until this year. Gooing back to get a new one I had only one off white fabric to choose from and it is ill fitting, is too large and looks like a used bad sofa from a fraturnity. Meanwhilke I have Queen Anne wing chairs, tuxedo look chairs, pine antiques and ...this abortion. So, now I have to either spend a fortune to replace it with a cover from an upholsterer with my choice of fabric and I'm looking at far more than the couch is worth new. Does any one care? No duh..
IKEA customer service ..what an oxymoron...remember - complain to the email above!
