Days Inn Complaint - Keep Driving and Don't Stop Here!
TAPPAHANNOCK, VIRGINIA -- No wonder Days Inn offers 20% off when you stay 3 nights or longer - prepayment required. If we hadn't prepaid, we would have turned around at the door of the room and headed elsewhere. The hotel looks okay on the outside but the room we had was terrible - -like something out of Bates Motel in Psycho. The cable TV furnished about four channels that were clear and the rest were so snowy you couldn't even figure out what was on the screen. The free wi-fi didn't work until I called the desk and asked for it. It provided a very weak signal once it was established. The desk clerk knew nothing about either the cable (it's the cable company's responsibility) or wi-fi. The room's air conditioning was loud and since the bed was next to it, waking up every time it ran during the night was a given. The "Continental Breakfast" consisted of bins of dry cereal, juice and coffee in the office. We didn't try it because we assumed it was stale since the office was very warm and not air-conditioned. The hotel staff did furnish clean towels and emptied the trash cans if asked. For most of the nights, we were the only guests on the one side of the hotel and this is the high travel season. When we checked out, there were two or three other cars in the parking lot - all from out of state, like us.
