Review by 1steph on 2010-07-12
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- If any of you ever gets into financial trouble (like I did, and am), and
founf NationWide Credit, Inc. on your credit report, here is some very useful information to use against not only them, but the original creditor who hired them:

1) United States District Court for the
District of New Jersey

v

NationWide Credit Information Services Inc.

NationWide Credit was successfully convicted of numerous allegations
of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). NationWide was
ultimately fined $1,000,000 (the largest civil fine awarded against
a collection agency at the time. NationWide also had to sign a consent
decree.

2) In The United States District Court
Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta
Division

v.

NationWide Credit, Inc. a corporation, Defendant

Precusor for suit above. NationWide was again successfully sued and
convictedof numerous allegations of the Fair Debt Collection
Practices Act (FDCPA). Nationwide was fined $100,000.

Both cases can be found on the FTC web site, FTC.gov.

A "suggestion" for your readers: If they get contacted by an attorney
trying to collect a debt, "look up" the attorney on their state's Bar
web site, to see if the attorney has a record of "disciplinary action,"
which can be used against the attorney.
