View Sonic Complaint - View Sonic, Known Lemon-out of luck
In the beginning of 2008 I purchased a ViewSonic projector at Fry's electronics. 2 months later it stopped working. I contacted Fry's and was refereed to ViewSonic for manufacturer's warranty. I sat on the phone for hours on hold and finally got through.
I had to send my unit off to be "repaired". I was then contacted the repair department and told that the unit I bought was defective in that a temp sensor was known to malfunction and they did not repair this unit but would replace it. I requested a comparable unit as this one was known to be defective, as they stated it. They said no.
1 1/2 months later I got my replacement unit. Within 4 months the 2nd unit was bad, the same issue as the first time. I returned it after more rounds of phone calls and waiting on mailers, all of which had more than an hour hold time, and again requested a comparable unit. They again explained that this unit was known to be defective, but no, they would only send me another replacement unit.
2 1/2 months later I got my 3rd unit. Within 7 months it was again broken. Guess what? The warranty is out. I have been told 4 times starting in the beginning of May (2 on chat and 2 by phone) that I would get a call back within 24 hours, with no call back.
I'm getting no help from ViewSonic. ViewSonic either had this projector or had me sitting with a broken projector waiting for mailer slips for 6 months of the life of the warranty, they told me multiple times that this projector was a known lemon with a defective part that they have no replacement part, nor is a replacement part made, but refused to offer me a comparable model or even a step down model. I spent $800 on a device that would not even live 1/4 the life span of the lamp in the projector. Shame on you ViewSonic. All I wanted was a working projector. I was willing to spend good money on it and what I got was a lot of hassle, a runaround and a projector that has been broken or with you far more than I've been able to use it.
