UtilitPro Complaint - UtiliPro is a ripoff
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- UtilitiPro advertises as an Appliance Repair Program. You sign up for a year. The catch is, if you don't read their information, you will be automatically renewed whether you are satisfied with the program or not(unless you send in a letter advising your cancellation a month before your anniversary. And if you forget, oh well you're stuck.). Well I called for service on my air condition to be repaired. They sent a repairman out. He came out and check and did some things and told me my air conditioner was old and possible needed a condenser and that the company would not pay for that or that it possibly could not be fixed. Well I did not buy that because my air conditioner is only seven years old and I have it serviced every year.
I did not get a follow up call from the company, so I called them and asked for a second opinion. This time they sent out another repairman who checked and gave me an invoice with the problems. It was going to cost me a total of more than 600 hundred dollars. He did say that UtiliPro would pay for about $180.00. He also recommended that I become a member or his company for 2 service visit totaling $144.00 a year.
My take on this, is the first repairman that came out did not care if my air conditioner would be fixed or not, he would be paid anyway. The second repairman was trying to get money for his company. UtiliPro did not care because they did not have to put out any more than a service charge. They did NOT do any follow up to see if everything went well. I could tell they did not care because of their attitude. They acted as though they were doing ME a favor. They seem to be in the business to collect money and help their repairmans, not do repairs.
I'm thoroughly not satisfied with this company and definitely will send in my letter of cancellation a month before my anniversary. I've already written it. I've put it upon my post-it board so that I want forget to mail it at the proper time.
