Time Warner Complaint - Disappointing Service
Time Warner Cable has to be one of the worst cable companies in the Midwest. When we moved to Kentucky, Time Warner was the only cable provider who offered phone, internet, and cable, so we really had no choice but to go with them. Like some of the other reviews, their claim of "free installation" left out additional hookups and internet set-up (which consists of plugging a cable line into a modem). Their claim that I would have the cable-internet-phone bundle for "$89" a month turned out to be around $110 a month and soon I will be paying even more as my 15 months of "free" DVR service ends soon.
What irks me so much is this: when we lived in Indiana, I had WoW Internet-Cable-Phone. I received 6 Mb/s high speed internet, digital cable with DVR, and unlimited national calling, all for $129 a month. Now with Time Warner Cable, when my introductory period runs out I will be paying that same price for 1.5 Mb/s "high-speed" internet, digital cable with fewer channels, and local phone only.
Time Warner's lack of innovation and quality of service stems from the fact that they have monopolized the market. Unless you are calling tech support, their customer service is useless and frustrating because most of their services have been outsourced to countries that speak English as a second language.
The whole way they advertise their services is misleading; the products they offer are clunky and expensive, and their channel line-up is limited and disappointing. I would jump ship if any other cable company entered the area.
