Lowe's Complaint - Door screwup
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- On April 18, 2010 I drove 43 miles to the Lowe's store in Fayetteville, AR to order a new front door. I was in the windows/doors department for almost 2 hours accomplishing this. It was a special order because of the size and also I wanted a cutout at the top to my specifications as I intended to inset a stained glass piece I owned. About 2 or 3 weeks later the door came in and I got a call that it was wrong; seems the cutout was at the bottom, to be used as a pet door!
I drove back to Fayetteville and ordered another door, this time one with the stained glass already inset at the factory. A few weeks later the installer came out with the door and, while it was beautiful, it was also too tall for my door opening (an installer had measured this before I ever ordered the first door). So back the door goes. I got a call from the salesman that afternoon saying he would order yet another door, which he did.
The third door was brought out on July 1; it too was again too tall. But this time the same installer decided to do a lot of cutting and manipulating to make it fit, which he did. The door is beautiful, but why should I have had to go through all that with a company that is supposed to be professional?!
I won't ever order anything from Lowe's again, especially a special order.
Maybe Home Depot will do better. I doubt it from what I observe in Ameican companies these days.
