Toyota Motor Corporation Complaint - 2002 Rav 4 - Transmission
I began having issues with my transmissive. After many days my mechanic discovered that there was a faulty Power train Control Module (PCM)and once that was replaced there were no more issues. Toyota had put out a notice about the PCM but did not do a recall. My mechanic told me that this faulty PCM caused my transmission problems and even put this in writing. He also gave me a copy of a trade magazine article that discussed this issue. Despite this information, Toyota refused to give me any money towards my transmission costs because my mileage was over the warranty.
Toyota customer service is horrible. They kept referring me to the 800 number and then to my Toyota dealership who did not do the repair. Even if I got a letter signed by a person, they never included their title or a phone number. When I called the 800 number and asked to speak to the person who denied my claim I was told she was on maternity leave and there was no one else I could talk to.
I am very disappointed in Toyota's response to my issues and will never buy another one.
