Akai Complaint - Defective product no response from company

My wife and I bought a Akai television from Sams club for approx. $1500
10 months later a line appearred through the middle, I called Akai and man said that it would correct itself. Problem got worse (and eventually unwatchable right past warranty date) and when I tried to contact Akai I kept getting the "we will respond to your email asap" but after 20+ emails still no response. Phone number no longer worked and with no way to contact anyone I wrote a letter that was returned to me months later. SO I have waste time and I still have the peice of crap Akai television which doesn't work at all.

Akai is another one of these tier three televisions that you've elected to purchase because of their cheep price. There are no local service centers. If repairs are needed, either within or outside of warranty, you are required to mail the product back in the ORIGINAL FACTOR BOX WITH ORIGINAL FACTORY PACKAGING. You may also be incorrect in assuming a one year warranty on the product. Many of these brands only come with a 90 day limited warranty. This doesn't mean that OEM name brands don't break. One look through this website will answer that. But there is a lot less breakdown of better quality brands and when they do have problems, service is generally easier to receive.

Tell me what size of television you're looking to replace it with and, if you'd like, I'll direct you to some good brands and models I know of. Who knows, it may be a good excuse for you to upgrade to a new 3D television!
