AmericInn Sarasota Hotel Informative - Nothing But Problems Stayed 2 Times

Review by vlane on 2010-07-17
SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- We stayed there two times with nothing but problems. But its close to the doctors office my husband needed to go to. We just booked it a third time and called to verify the booking only to be told we are on a no stay list even though we just paid. On our last stay the assistant manager got out of hand when we had called ahead and verifyed our room and room no#118 was told every thing was fine but when we got there it was not fine had to put us in another room with two bed had problems getting around the bed. We were not very happy had spoke on phone 2 times about room and was told everything was set next day I asked the assistant manager where the laundry room was she told me then started up about the problem the day before I told her I did not want to talk about it any more and left she chased after me going on and on about all all they had done for us. The first time we stay they up graded us for their mistake but not this time we paid full price for the room we had I just pushed my chair down the hall its a sport chair so she could not keep up and start screaming after me. When she said some thing about all they had done for us this stay I turned and said we paid full price and they did nothing for us. She said she was hard of hearing so I said something not so nice that she should consider hearing aids. Turned and went to my room. They knew we were coming back and about when. We booked it on expeda as always and then called only to be told we would not be allowed to stay there even though we already paid. It will take 7 to 10 days to get my money back. Nice of them to let us know and we were not the problem the manager who told us we were booked in the room we wanted and lied was the problem the assistant manager who screamed at me was the problem. And stranding us with out a room to stay in with a terminal ill husband and me a paraplegic living on ssi and needing to travel across the state for the care he needs and not having to strength drive for more then a few hours. One last note their handicap rooms are not so handicap friendly

With all of the problems you experienced, why did you bother to book this place a 3rd time?

I wonder what the other side of the story is. This hotel gets great reviews: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34618-d86125-Reviews-AmericInn_Hotel_Suites_of_Sarasota-Sarasota_Florida.html

Ben, I wonder about that, myself.

I have a tenancy to agree with the above posts. If the hotel is so well rated, why would this one customer(s) have such a problem and why, by all means, would they continue to reserve a room for them. It sounds like the hotel just decided to end the relationship with the clients.

With all of that said, I really do wish the best to the OP and her husband. Hopefully they'll enjoy their stay at a different hotel.

we continued to stay there because it was 1 mile from the doctors office and cheapest hotel with handicap rooms. this last booking they would have waited for us to arrive to find out. but i called to verify as i had before. as for problem guests we are older and very undemanding. most people would not even know we are there and their handicap bathrooms do not even include handrails a roll in shower with a seat and now its handicap.
