Sketchers sneakers Complaint - Defective skecher shape ups - skechers shape up sneakers

skechers shape up sneakers - Complaint
Review by laurie65 on 2010-07-18
I recently purchased a pair of skechers shape up sneakers. I have worn the sneakers about 10 times. One would think that the sole of the sneaker should not deflate and that is exactly what happened. I went online to the skechers website to read about the warranty. There is none, it stated "as is" If you have the receipt and the original box you would be able to return the product. Thinking the shoes fit well, I did not feel the need to keep the box or the receipt. So now what, it took me a long time to decide to spend a $100.00 on a pair of sneakers and for what to have the product be defective with no possible way to get my money back or exchange for another product. This is my first and last time that I will ever buy a skecher product.

From the sketchers website: "Some states do not permit limitations or exclusions on warranties, so the above limitations may not apply to you."
Have you checked with your state?

I've noticed that Sketchers don't last as long as other shoes. I bought a pair of Shape-Ups in February. They haven't fallen apart yet, but now that a bunch of companies have come up with cheaper versions of the Shape-Ups (which were knock offs of a $200 shoe by a different company), I'm kinda kicking myself :).

I have worn a pair of Shape-Ups for several months, and I am happy with the wear. I am typically hard on shoes, mainly by wearing the outer heel edges out. On the Shape-Ups, the wear isn't as noticeable, since the heels are offset by design. The soles, after a while, do tend to get spongy, especially after wearing them during wet weather, but they do what they're advertised...I have noticed less knee and back pain since wearing the Shape-Ups, and I'd recommend them to others. I also have a pair of Thera Shoes (which are from K mart)-those work just like the Shape Ups, but the soles aren't as spongy as the Skechers. Both the Skechers Shape-Ups (which average $100 or so a pair) and the K mart Thera Shoes (which sell for $36-$40 a pair, but are on sale this week in my area for $19.99) are based on the MBT shoes. MBT invented that sole design, and their shoes typically sell for $250-$300 a pair. Skechers, K mart's Thera Shoes, and others (including Curves and Dr. Scholl's) sell for a lot less, and work the same way by exercising your body and reducing pain while you walk.

"I've noticed that Sketchers don't last as long as other shoes. " THIS is true! I always used to buy sketchers shoes that are almost like boots, you know, with the big rubber sole and leather outside. They fall apart so bad and become worthless. My mom however has a pair of shape ups because she falls for every marketing ploy ever, lol. She seems to like them though so to each their own.

I absolutely love my pair of Sketchers. One of my favorite pair of shoes that I've owned. Although they are not the new "shape-up" style. Those look a little weird to me, and I'm not sure that I could get used to them.

Go buy another pair if you like them that much; wait about two weeks and use your new box and receipt to return the old pair for a full refund.

MD, no offense, but kinda dishonest isn't it?

Only used as a last resort when companies don't stand behind their products and make it very difficult to get a refund when one is definitely warranted.

The only exception to my first statement are the pair of sketchers hiking boots I bought back in 1999 or 2000. Those things REFUSE to wear out! I would wear them for 5 months out of the year from the age from my senior year of H.S. til my senior year of College. Now my feet are too big for them thanks to the birth of Baby Clutzy, but my husband has been known to wear them on occasion.

I bought a pr. of Curves Shapers through Avon while in FL. I've worn them almost daily and walk several miles, several days a week. I do like them but the soles are wearing badly. There are holes in several places. Don't think I'd buy them again.

I also have a problem with the ShapeUps. The top of one of the shoes is coming apart at the seams. Like those above, I looked for a warranty and found there was none. No more Skechers for me

I too returned a defective pair of sneakers to Sketchers over 60 days ago, and have not heard anything from them. What a terrible sneaker and service from corporate. Good bye Sketches for the rest of my life. Truly disappointed
