General Motors Complaint - Headlights 2007 Equinoux
I own a 2007 Chevy Equinoux, and about 2 months ago I had a headlight failure and after looking everywhere on the car, in order to change the light bulb, I got frustrated and took it in. The dealer ship promptly changed it(2 hours) and gave me back the car. Of course as with anything that comes in Pairs with in two months the other side went out, I returned for this item and a roaring noise in a front wheel. (don't forget my Pairs theroy)
Front bearing failure, after 41ooo miles, fixed under power train warranty, but only one side..... head light $80.00...........WHAT!
It turns out you have to remove the entire Grill and associated part to get to this (Auto Zone $23.45 light bulb) None of the mechanical skills or tool are beyond my ability, but the frustration with the Idiot that designed this feture into the car, has frazzeled me.
This car has (constantly lights on) sfety feature and if this is as I suspect a built in money maker I am at my wits end with these huge, bailed out companies extracting even more time and money from their customer base. A little math will tell you I am looking at $500.00 or more over the life of the car in head light charges alone (this is safety related and a ticket getter from local police departments) the sad part is this is only the first of many faults built in to these cars, which will continue to frustrate and cost, loyal buyer's of their products over the life of the cars.
(Examples: Three piece power window regulators, with removable, motor, cable, and track, but only available as a total unit to the tune of $360.00.(parts no labor) The temperature control, three knob panal for your heat and air system comes out in one piece has all three controls, easily replaceable from the panel, But only available as a complete modual to the tune of $340.00 and it goes on and on, initial set of tires should be good for 6o,000 miles but today are barely getting 45,000 miles..........in today's financial and job loss environment these frickin hy-way men need to have their wings trimmed. The mechanics (who supply their own tools)that fix these cars, are getting from $13.00 to 20.00 dollars per hour and the dealer ship is POSTING min. hourly rates in excess of $85.00 an hour. Does anyone else see the issues here............I sure hope so!!!!!!!!!!
