Dairy Queen, Inc. Compliment - Worker Diffused Potential Dispute
RESTON, VIRGINIA -- Kudos to the (I assume) manager who was working at the Dairy Queen at Hunters Woods Plaza in Reston, VA on July 21st. A patron came in and ordered some type of Blizzard and attempted to pay with a DQ gift card. The server ran it through the machine, but it was rejected. She politely informed the woman that the card was rejected; the customer began to get a little steamed and then took out her cell phone to call someone (she mentioned something about her daughter), insisting that there was money on the card, offering a receipt as "proof" (I couldn't see what was on the receipt--most likely it was the purchase receipt for the gift card). The server ran the card through again, and again, it was rejected. Finally, she reached into the register and gave the customer back her change in cash. She didn't exhale sharply or roll her eyes as many would have done. (The customer was not exactly appreciative). Sometimes small little things can cause some customers to be inconvenienced; a skilled worker knows when to take the steps required to make things more pleasant for everyone. Good job!
