Smithtown Nissan Complaint - A Nissan Service Center to Avoid

Review by runner10 on 2010-07-21
ST. JAMES, NEW YORK -- April 17, 2010 my son took his 1999 Nissan Quest to Smithtown Nissan because the car ran poorly after it was warmed up, especially at speeds over 40 mph. They give us a long list of things that needed to be fixed which is typical of any repair shop, but they said that the main problem was no coolant in the system due to a leaking waterpump. Total estimate for all repairs: $1300. I didn't want to put that much money into the car, so I rented a truck and trailer and towed it home. I was surprised and very unhappy to find that the coolant problem was caused by a faulty $2.00 hose clamp. The water pump is fine. I am not a trained mechanic and I spotted this in about 15 minutes. I have to wonder, are the Smithtown Nissan mechanics that bad, that lazy, or that dishonest? I would recommend that you think twice before trusting them with your car.

From your three guesses I would choose, "too dishonest."
