Midas Complaint - Midas, Chandler, Az - Very Poor Customer Service
CHANDLER, ARIZONA -- On June 17, 2010, my mother brought her vehicle in to have the a/c repaired. About half an hour later, the manager, [snip - no names please] called and stated the repair would be round $700. My mother stated that was way overpriced and Flood offered $400. I told my mother to call back and state we'd paid $300 cash. Flood rumbled a bit and called accepting the cash offer. Within 30 minutes, Flood calls stating the repair was completed. We recovered the vehicle and within two weeks, the a/c was not working again. We discovered all he did was replace a hose for $300. My mother is a 70 year-old woman experiencing her first Arizona summer since relocating from California. A/C is a must here.
My mother brought it back and Flood stated that the compressor was shot and it would be $700 to repair. Funny...if you read below there is a similar post - does Midas has a $700 standard compressor replacement on all a/c repairs? Why did he not do a complete a/c diagnositic and stated that the compressor was about to go out?
My mother contacted Midas corporate and complained demanding a full refund or repair the a/c at a different location with no charge. Flood called bickering that we contacted corporate and we went over to the shop and recovered the refund.
Needless to say, this practice of up-selling or doing minor repairs to lead to major ones (especially, when the customer is a senior citizen) is despicable.
