Select Comfort Complaint - Air leak gets hot air response - Select Comfort Bed

Select Comfort Bed - Complaint
Review by 1Sleepygal on 2010-07-23
I dreamed of having a good night's sleep and decided Select Comfort was the way to make it happen. I purchased the dual chamber queen size mattress and platform but after 10 months, the foam center divider broke down. Select Comfort Customer Service was excellent! The solution they provided was to send a single chamber mattress to replace the dual chamber mattress but they were not replacing the power unit and promised everything would be OK. It is important to note that I LOVED sleeping on this bed! It was everything I had hoped it would be and more!

From the first night I slept on the single chamber mattress, the air leaked out to the point where I could feel the hard support beneath the mattress. Every night it was the same story. Sometimes, the air loss would be so huge that it would wake me up and I would have to pump up the mattress. After several frustrating phone calls to customer service and being told that it is normal for the mattress to lose air (sometimes 50 points????) due to weather changes and they would do nothing for me. I spoke to supervisors and everything and am always respectful in my conversations. I am completely frustrated by the complete lack of customer service and they managed to out stall me and let this slip past the 2 year anniversary.

Since I would rather sleep on the garage floor than my Select Comfort bed, obviously, I must get a new bed - but what kind of bed? I was set to be a lifetime devotee to Select Comfort and they just won't let that happen.

Is there any recourse at all for this situation? Like a previous poster, I never got my rewards certificate despite repeated efforts to make that happen. That shouldn't come as any surprise since I have been waiting 29 years for a Mr. Coffee rebate....

OP, this is an excellent review. We have been toying with the idea for awhile, about purchasing the sleep comfort bed, and this just helped me make my final decision. Can they have someone come to your home, and see if that part, is defective?

By the way, loved your Mr.Coffee rebate comment!

This really is a good review. I'm embarrassed to say that our mattress and box spring are over thirty years old. I haven't replaced them because I honestly don't know what to buy and because they are still as comfortable as the day we got them. It would be nice to have something new, but I don't want to end up like you.

I think it was foolish of Select Comfort not to make this right. Not only have they lost a customer but you are now spreading that word instead of the part about how much you loved sleeping on the bed. I hope someone from Select Comfort sees this.

You know what I love about my Sleep Number bed? Everything! And Sleep Number has literally changed my moms life! She suffers from severe arthritis and in her old mattress she'd have to get up every 3 hours... Now she can actually sleep a full 6-7 quality hours.

I ensure there is a solution. A sleep number bed is a modular unit so if something needs fixed, you can! There's no other bed you can do that on! Imagine if you have an innerspring and the springs are starting to wear or go bad... That's it. No fixing anything. And you'll never find the support or comfort like you had on your Sleep Number! Maybe visit your local store or call the Customer Service again and have them walk you through how it should be set up. Make sure when you plug the hose into the chamber you hear a click!

I know sometimes when a person calls a Customer Service center they immediately want to spout complaints. That will not allow you to LISTEN for the solution and I KNOW they will help you in every way. Kind Regards...

BED SUCKS!!! WOULD NEVER ADVISE ANYONE TO GET! A LOT OF MONEY FOR A SHORT TIME FLING --- THEY DON'T LAST NEAR AS LONG AS A REAL BED!!!
