Casanova Enterprizes Complaint - Contractual Issues - Roof Installation

Review by tg028 on 2010-07-24
TERRYVILLE, CONNECTICUT -- We went with Casanova Enterprizes to replace our roof because the salesman offered us everything the other companies had offered us and beat their price. Well, after the job was started, I asked about the vented drip edge not being installed as per our written contract. I was told the foreman would be on site later, and I could talk to him about it. I said I would like to talk to him once he got there. Well, I never saw the foreman until the roof was finished. He told me a drip edge vent could not be put on our roof. It was an impossibility.

Well, if I had known that they could not do a vented drip edge, I would have gone with one of the other roofing companies that offered us one. I asked why we were offered one in our contract. The owner said the salesman messed up and offered us 150 dollars off the total contract price as their solution. I accepted the solution as that is the product's cost. I am writing this however because we feel cheated - and want others to beware of Casanova's practice - because in our estimation the salesman sold us a bill of goods to get the job. Sure the salesman messed up as the company's owner said, but Casanova Enterprizes is still laughing all way to the bank as they got a job/money they would not have gotten had I known about the vented drip edge being an impossibility.

Sometimes it is not to go with the cheapest price. There is a reason why cheap is cheap.

You get what you pay for. High end is high dollar.

I'm not sure what a vented drip edge is, but is it possible that it actually can't be done and the other companies were also making a mistake in telling you that it could? If you are otherwise satisfied with the work and got a refund for what couldn't be done, is there really a good reason to badmouth this company? Unless you are not satisfied with the roof, I don't know why you think the company is laughing all the way to the bank. They did the job at the lowest price and even gave you a refund for the mistake.

Yes, cheap is cheap. But promising one thing in a contract and then not delivering after the job is done is wrong. That is why I wrote the review/complaint. Not to bad mouth the company -- because I reported just the facts -- but to warn others of this deceptive practice.

Making a mistake is not always the same as being deceptive. You may not have intended to badmouth the company, but that is how your review comes across. You're assuming it wasn't a honest mistake. The lowest estimate doesn't automatically mean the work is shoddy.. Are you satisfied with the results? If you are, I would say you made the right decision by using this company because you got a great deal.
