Red Robin Complaint - Waitress served our COLD food on a tray with dirty dishes on it ! Nasty, sarcastic manager implied that we were liars.. DISASTER!

Complaint
Review by CeeNoelle on 2010-07-25
On a Sunday afternoon, the 6 of us arrived at Red Robin in East Stroudsburg, PA. Five of us ordered burgers and one of us ordered a soup/salad entree. When my sister's soup arrived, it was cold. The waitress returned with another soup but it was on the same tray as another customer's dirty dishes. She told her that she didn't want it because that was disgusting and she tried to deny that she put it on the same tray as the garbage even though we all clearly saw her do it.

A few minutes later, our burgers came and they were cold as well. When we complained, she told us she would get the manager to handle it. The manager came over to us and was extremely nasty and condescending towards us. He acted as if he didn't believe that our burgers were cold and questioned us in a very aggressive manner. Then, he turned to my sister, who was eating her salad and sarcastically asked her if her salad was cold too. She said "Uh, Yes but it's supposed to be cold". He responded with a smart ass remark saying "Well, if their burgers were cold then your salad should of been warm since they had to have been sitting there waiting for the waitress, right?".... Then, he got even nastier and said "What exactly would you like me to do here for you? Freshen up your burgers?".. He rolled his eyes and walked away.

We found that to be very unprofessional and disrespectful. We weren't looking for any freebies, just some understanding. We had no reason to lie about not being satisfied with our burgers. We're very disappointed with the staff's service and behavior.

I really hope this doesn't happen again to another customer because no one deserves to be treated like a liar and a fool just for trying to get what they paid for.

i've only been to an RR once. the only complaint we had was how hot it was, cos we were right under the heater. but they moved us so then we were happy.

i don't particularly remember the food. but i don't think it was bad.

i do remember getting cold soup once when i didn't expect it, but that was at some cuban restaurant in Seville, Spain. And the cold soup was a refreshing surprise because it was very hot outside.

=)

To everyone calling me a liar... just FYI.. the 3 reviews I posted didn't happen all at once. They took place over the course of a couple of years. The only reason I posted all of them at once today is because I just discovered this website. Call me a liar or an exaggerator all you want but these things DID happen. I have better things to do that make up 3 stories.

You should contact their corporate office. No need for them to get so disrespectful and snarky towards all of you. You went out for a nice time, and ended up being aggravated.

YT, how many reviews have people posted, regarding an experience that happened years ago? The op wants to share her experience with M3C, and the part about the soup on a dirty tray with other customers dirty dishes was disgusting.
Posted by Ytropious on 2010-07-25:
And she sure can, but I know that personally my mind warps things the longer it's been since it happened. Maybe the OP remembers things differently then they really happened.

Cee, what a nasty experience. I would have walked out. If they don't care enough about their customers to at the very least NOT put fresh food next to dirty, nasty plates from a pack of strangers, well, that's enough for me to leave, much less the deplorable attitude of the manager.
Posted by CeeNoelle on 2010-07-25:
@Ytropious First of all, this particular experience was only 2 months ago and all 6 of us still talk about it because we couldn't believe how we were treated in a restaurant that we all visited quite often so it REALLY was as bad as we remember it. Second of all, how can you justify putting someone's food next to garbage? I don't even know how to respond to that. and Third of all, I didn't want them to reheat my burger or give me a new one. I just wanted the manager to know that his employees need to be re-trained.

There's a lesson to be learned here. Never gather up all your bad experiences and write about them all at once. While it may seem like a good idea when you first discover a complaint site, it does look suspicious to the readers and it can diminish the importance of your reviews.

Why should the op not be able to write all in one day her experiences, even if they are bad? She said she just found this site, and wanted to share what happened. She has every right, just as everyone else, to come here and post freely. It's a shame a new member should be made to feel bad about posting her reviews all in one day. Isn't that what this site is for? Her reviews are well concise and well written, and she has valid complaints. I don't think it diminishes the importance of her reviews. But this is a rough crowd at times, lol.

Skye, she has every right as does anyone else. I neglected to say in my post that it might be a good idea to give some sort of time line when writing multiple letters in a row. That would clear up any suspicion about the complaints. And I wasn't just referring to this OP. It applies to everyone. Three complaints in a row does tend to raise a red flag.

I hear ya Venice. Like I said, she just found this site, and seems happy that she was able to find this place, and needed to share these, long over due complaints that she has.
Posted by Venice09 on 2010-07-25:
Skye, that's why I didn't comment on these reviews when I first saw them. It did seem like a case of someone finding this site and deciding to post about past experiences. I'm glad the OP came back to explain. I know it shouldn't be necessary, but there are people who make stuff up and unfortunately they ruin it for everyone else.
Posted by Skye on 2010-07-25:
And there are people who make it uncomfortable for new members to ever want to return and post, due to unnecessary comments, and ruin it for new members, as well as current members. You know where I'm coming from, like I said, this crowd can be rough at times. I know her first reviews have all been complaints, but at least her reviews are easy on the eyes, lol.

I know what you mean, Skye. When I wrote my first letter over on PFB many years ago it was a rude awakening, but I learned a lot from the comments. I honestly see both sides of this. After reading as many complaints as I have over the years, I too am sometimes suspicious. But I always try to give the author the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, letter/review writers who leave themselves open to comments should take possible feedback into consideration and cover their bases. I'll bet the next time this OP writes a review, she'll see it from the reader's standpoint and address any skepticism right from the get-go. And that's not really a bad way to write a letter or review.

When I saw all of this earlier today, my first thought was that the op probably just discovered the site and therefore had more than one story to tell. I was disappointed to see the OP being discredited, since none of the stories were earth-shattering unbelievable. I guess, like Venice said, had there been some sort of time-line, then maybe it would have been more obvious what was going on, but is it so hard to figure out that the OP had three stories? She never said here's what happened to me TODAY at breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Hopefully my comment won't be canned this time. I said earlier that it was possible that all this had happened, but I guess it was taken as being insulting (it was not meant to be). I had mentioned a time frame. Mia culpa and all.

I enjoyed CeeNoelle's reviews.

After all, we all know of a certain member, who I shall not mention by name, who basically only wrote reviews, regarding the lack of highchairs in food places. Now of course, lack of highchairs, is a very valid complaint, but after awhile, it seemed she only visited food places, in order to take highchair, or lack of highchair inventory. She also liked to post reviews if she did not win certain soda contests.
Posted by Skye on 2010-07-25:
I also think CeeNoelle's complaints were not outlandish. After all, we all have read complaint reviews, where people were not happy with a meal or service. They felt they were entitled to have the entire meal compensated, along with gift cards for free meals for the next 10 years, lol.
Posted by Venice09 on 2010-07-25:
The fact that CeeNoelle wasn't asking for anything was a clue. That's one of the reasons I hesitated to comment.
Posted by Skye on 2010-07-25:
Well not everyone who has a bad experience, automatically wants something. I hope CeeNoelle continues to post on M3C. I like her.

Agreeing with you, Skye.
