EBay Complaint - Ebay Daily Deal Ripoff
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- Ebay has a promotion they call the "Daily Deal". This Daily Deal offers buyers the chance to purchase a product at a reduced price and free shipping. An Ebay seller had Nike Ipod Nano Sportbands advertised as $3.99 with free shipping (Item #370410895631). I purchased two. My total price should have been $7.98. I tried to checkout and found that I was being forced to use what is called a "3Pcheckout". That means I can't pay directly with Paypal but must use this seller's personal checkout system. The problem was the checkout added $2.99 in additional shipping fees for each product. I paid $13.96 for these two armbands that had been advertised at the sale price of $3.99 each. Over 1300 other people bought the same identical item I did. That's a great deal of money for a "mistake". I tried to call the phone number listed and no one answered. I have sent two emails and all I get is auto responses that they will respond within 24 hours.
What I don't understand is why Ebay forces buyers to use these nasty checkouts. Why can't I pay with Paypal? This is the LAST time I will ever buy a Daily Deal if I must use one of those 3P checkout systems. First I would like a refund of the money I was overcharged. Second I would like Ebay to change their policy and never force another buyer to use those 3P checkouts to pay for something on Ebay again.
