The General Auto Insurance Complaint - Changing The Policy And Taking More Money Than Agreed Upon
I signed up for a 6 month policy and agreed to the amount for same. I was provided the policy and a schedule of payments. I just received my bank statement which showed the first two "payments" after the initial down payment and it was almost $200.00 more than as listed in the payment schedule. I called them and they responded that they determined that an accident was my fault (when a deer hit my family's vehicle on the interstate) which occurred previously and which had not effected the insurance coverage I had at the time. They did not complete an investigation and do not have a police report asserting that the accident was my fault. Based on same, they changed my rates completely, without at any time offering me the chance to address the problem, and, according to them, without having to provide me with any updated schedule detailing the additional monies they would be taking from my bank account.
They say they sent a "letter," but of course I have no letter. They have of course offered to send a new letter.
