Makro Complaint - Makro?? Heck no!!

BANGKOK -- For those that may not know, Makro is a warehouse type of shopping store, similar to a Sam's Club.

My gf and I went there on Monday to just pick up a few items. Bottled water was tops on our list as the water here is boderline drinkable.

So we are perusing the water pallets which are right next to the beer pallets. Where I am now is a religious holiday and alcohol cannot be purchased on Monday and Tuesday (July 26th & 27th) and there were signs indicating this (in Thai) and also ropes around the pallets so one would get the idea that you could puchase it.

Apparently one employee thought we were going to take some beer instead of water and went and got 2 more of his co-workers and told my Thai gf (in Thai, which I understand) that this white guy cannot purchase beer and if he even touches a box, they will throw me out of the store. I pretended as if I had no clue what they were saying and just stupidly smiled as I knew my gf could handle this. She told him we had no intention of buying beer and only wanted water. The employee said that he could "feel" I wanted to buy the beer and then decided he was finished talking and attempted to escort she and I from the store with his two buddies. It was then that I spoke (in Thai) that he'd better remove his hands from my gf or he should watch himself when he finished work that night. (I'm not dumb, one white guy taking on three Thai guys will soon turn into 1 white guy taking on the whole store) He was abit stunned I could speak Thai, removed his hands and we left on our own.

No other drama really but obviously we will not go back to Makro and talking to his manager would have been pointless as here the farang (white person) is ALWAYS wrong.

How ridiculous! They wouldn't get any more of my business, either.

Good review, I wouldn't go back either.

On a side note, it's fun to find out little snippets of people's lives on here.
