John Deere Company Complaint - Sorry craftsmanship

Complaint
Review by 21snickers on 2010-07-30
We paid over $1600.00 for this piece of plastic crap. What happened to metal parts on this lwanmower? We had it serviced and was told most of these parts are plastic and break very easily and will need a lot of future replacements. What happened no one runs like a deer? yeah right if you can keep it running without all the repair bills. We will never buy a John Deer again.....You all need to read all the complaints about your product and be ashamed you don't back up your product.......

What is the age of the lawn mower?
Posted by SaMoore on 2010-07-30:
And the make please.

SaMoore, the make is a John Deere, as mentioned a couple of times in the post. The only authenticity to most John Deere lawn equipment is the decal, as they do what almost all other companies do: buy their parts from a few suppliers and have their name put on the finished unit.

If you want a true John Deere, not an outsources POC, you have to actually go to the John Deere Store

saj80, I mistakenly requested info on the make what and when I wanted was the model.

biomajor is correct-you get a totally different product when buying a John Deere (or Toro for that matter) at places like Home Depot than you do when buying at an actual dealer.

To be perfectly fair, they don't Price John Deere's like they use to either. The John Deere Model 318 cost $6,000 new in 1980, do you honestly think your going to get a half way decent product that cost less then 1/3 the amount 30 years later? In inflation alone $6,000 in 1980 dollars is over $15,000 in 2010 dollars. So next time you moan and complain about how much the quality of product has slipped, just ask yourself, did you really pay enough for a quality product? You may have be trained by the fancy store displays that $1,600 is a lot for a tractor, but your comparing junk to other junk. No brand is going to hold up well at that price level. Even if another manufacture puts a few extra dollars into there product instead of profit, how much quality do you honestly think they are going to be able to put into the tractor with an extra $100 worth of parts. Do yourself a favor, buy a quality product to begin with, or don't buy it at all. You need to get to the $4,000+ price level to get a decent tractor with a transmission and other parts that hold up more than a few years.
