Office of Attorney General - State of Florida Complaint - Warrantees and repairs

Complaint
Review by Royal Lancer on 2005-01-28
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FLORIDA -- I had installed on my new home a solar Hot water system produced by AET in Jacksonville Florida and installed by a dealer in Pensacola in june of 2001.
The heat exchanger started to leak in aug of 2004. I called the dealer, he is out of business now. Then called AET in Jacksonville. They gave me a new recommended dealer in Pensacola. The new dealer made an appoitment for Aug, he failed to show and no calls back from him. After many tries he said he did not install the unit and therefore not responsible for it, even thought AET said he was their representitive in Pensacola. Then I found that AET was sold BACK to the original owner and that now they are not responsible for this unit(shell game). They did supply me with the sub contractor that built the heat exchanger(side bar) and he agreeded to exchange the old for a new unit. That was Oct of 2004. Repeated attempts to find a date to receive the new unit has been unproductive. He will not respond.

To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:

I would like the unit fixed, but from the response of the manufatcure I really would like the unit removed and my money refunded.

At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.

You stated the solar panel was installed June '01, and the leak began in Aug.'04. Did it function properly 3 years prior to the leak? Did you have an extended warranty?
