Dell Computer Corporation Complaint - Financial Services Harrassment
Last year I purchased a Dell laptop cpmputer. The January 2005 payment was due on 1/5/2005 and I called Dell Fianncial Services to make the payment over the phone on 1/4/2005. They only accept payment over the phone from your checking account. I gave them the informtion they required and ended the call. 20 days later I was advised by Dell Financial Services that the payment was not issued by the bank. I told the caller that I would have to check with the bank and get back with them. I was never given a phone number to call the person back. For whatever reason the payment was not forwarded to Dell Financial Services. I then received a statement in the mail with the January amount and February amount with a due date of 2/4/2005. I sent payment on 1/24/2005 and have been receiving harrassing phone calls from Dell Financial Sefvices demanding payment. I told them that the invoice stated that the due date was 2/4/2005 and they continue to harrass me by phone. I would like to know why, if there was a problem with the original payment, I was not notified immediately so that the problem could have been taken care of as soon as possible. Also, I believe Dell Financial Services has outsourced their collection services to India. The people that call are very difficult to understand and I am sure they have difficulty understanding me. I have told them repeatedly what my last name is but they continue to mutilate it. Sometimes they pronounce it so badly I tell them they have the wrong number because it is not even remotely close to the correct pronunciation. Dell Financial Services might do well to improve their Customer Service skills as well as their collection policies. Also, there have been times that I have over-nighted the payment only to be charged with a late fee. I guess they don't credit the pauyment until they decide to process it.
