Lenscrafters (Springfield Mall) Complaint - Bad Customer Service

Review by Wan64 on 2010-08-04
SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA -- I visited Lenscrafters@Springfield, VA), 23rd June for a returned and was told by the manager, Melanie, that my return could not done at her store. She also mentioned every time she tried to return the merchandise using her computer it would crash. I asked her what does that mean and she stated I had to return the merchandise at the store I purchased it from. I immediately walked off and called the store I purchased the merchandise from (Lenscrafters, Landmark, VA) and explained what was going on. The manager at Landmark asked who was helping me and I told him, he immediately knew I was having problems when I stated "Melanie's" name. I'm not sure what was discussed on the other end of the phone, but Melanie somehow found a way to refund my money. I mentioned to her I was going to contact Lens Crafters about the matter, all she can do was apologize, it was too late for that. I didn't want to hear it, I told her if she didn't know how to do a refund she should call for assistance.

Melanie need to be trained and tested on her managerial & customer service skills and leave the racial gestures at home.

Racial gestures? Huh? Where did that come in?

Before reading Clutzy's comment, I thought the exact same thing. When I read something like this, I think all the OP has done is berate him/herself.

how did race factor in to this?

I was with the OP all the until the end. I live in a foreign country where non-nationals, especially whites, are looked down upon. I still have never had an issue though and don't let it get to me. It seems to me the OP is overreacting. The refund was given and even an apology. Move on.
