U-Haul, Lillooet, BC Complaint - Unsatisfactory Service

LILLOOET BC -- Two months ahead of moving, I phoned them to reserve a truck, and asked to bring a deposit. He told me this was not required and to phone back one week prior to moving, they would have a five tonne truck for me. I called back two weeks prior and was told, no, they did not want a deposit, to just pay when I come pick up the truck, and not to worry, I would have my truck. Well you guessed it, the day before my move I get a call telling me I cannot get my truck and will have to settle for a cube van and a trailer. Well, I required two trailers. Some of my furniture got damaged, as well as the enormous amount of stress this caused me. I was moving from Lillooet to Surrey. Therefore, this being a long distance move made it very difficult. They give my truck to someone else from a different town, the day before.

I had used U-Haul in the past many times and was always satisfied. This time was a total nightmare. This was unacceptable behaviour and service.

The fact that they didn't have a truck for you is a problem. Trying to prove stress is not going to work as all of these companies legally practice overbooking their services. Good luck.

They can't control when a vehicle is broken or not returned on time. That has always been a problem of renting.
