Public Storage Informative - Not very secure at all!
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- I just rented a 6X10 unit in Austin at Research and Burnet and had previously rented from other Public Storage Facilites inAustin and had no complaint. I went into the hall unit and noticed that all the doors have rather wide vent in the bottom of the doors. These can be easily pulled out and a slender person can enter, pass your goods out of the door and get away. The door its' self is a hollow core and is filled with card board. while checking the walls, I noticed that I could easily push the dry wall that separates the unit. All in all, these were very flimsy and I am 57 years old and I could break the walls down without tools. I also noticed that the security camera bracket was missing a security camera.
I was forced into renting right then as my soon to be EX husband wanted my belongings out of his way so he could clean.
Another thing, I reserved the unit and prepaid the night before and my son paid for it using his debit card. This didn't show up on their records and they explained to me that that because I had reserved it for Sunday instead of Saturday that the card would not go through unitl then. I received word from My son that it had cleared his bank the night I reserved it. I had to end up paying cash. I AM going back tomorrow and removing my things and am taking pictures of these deficits and am demanding my money back! I hope my things are there in the moring as I saw several people with clothing, their pets and refridgerators in the larger units and it appeared that they are living there.
I used to have a high opinion of Public Storage and this is now ALL changed.
